Important Ethical Principles

....for doing business in the modern world
  1. Treat people fairly and honestly
  2. If it's people's lives vs profits, pick lives
  3. Don't delude people about whether it's people's lives vs profits
  4. Tell the truth
  5. Don't lie
    • (these two are not exactly the same)
  6. Don't pick nits
    • (like, well, gee, if I tell the absolute truth, that might hurt someone and well, gosh, that'd just be bad. Use your brain)
  7. Community and the environment can't be destroyed for profit because their destruction must be paid for and so the profit becomes merely 'taking'
  8. A good company doesn't lie and it doesn't steal
  9. A company that lies and steals isn't good
  10. Don't steal
  11. Don't encourage the passage of laws that make it appear to be all right to steal
  12. Loyalty to the job should be farther down on the list of choices than doing the right thing, not lying, and not stealing
  13. Legal and 'right' are not synonymous
