My Geekiness Factor
I am a Speaker to Geeks....
According toThudfactor: The Polygeek Test my geek percentage is 46%.
You are a geek liaison, which means you go both ways. You can hang out with normal people or you can hang out with geeks which means you often have geeks as friends and/or have a job where you have to mediate between geeks and normal people. This is an important role and one of which you should be proud. In fact, you can make a good deal of money as a translator.Normal: Tell our geek we need him to work this weekend.
You [to Geek]: We need more than that, Scotty. You'll have to stay until you can squeeze more outta them engines!
Geek [to You]: I'm givin' her all she's got, Captain, but we need more dilithium crystals!
You [to Normal]: He wants to know if he gets overtime.
Frighteningly, I actually do have this kind of job. And occasionally have conversations just like the one above.
Comments
I came out 57% geek. A picture of Jodie Foster appeared with my score. Since I wanted to *be* Jodie Foster when I was a kid (before anyone knew who she was, when she appeared on shows like the ABC Afterschool Special), this pleased me.
Here's my score analysis:
You are a geek. Good for you! Considering the endless complexity of the universe, as well as whatever discipline you happen to be most interested in, you'll never be bored as long as you have a good book store, a net connection, and thousands of dollars worth of expensive equipment. Assuming you're a technical geek, you'll be able to afford it, too. If you're not a technical geek, you're geek enough to mate with a technical geek and thereby get the needed dough. Dating tip: Don't date a geek of the same persuasion as you. You'll constantly try to out-geek the other.
This is a bit more technogeeky than I think I really am. So maybe I'm just a wannabe geek.

Well, I can talk to the students who work for me, which is pretty much all I ask. Especially as they seem to scare half the rest of the staff!
Maybe your high-geekiness comes from the copy-editing side of the brain. Well, and your Jody-Foster-ness...

Being able to talk to people who scare half the other people is a truly admirable quality.
There's a definite geekiness-copyediting correlation. But I think it's more a factor of the delight I take in playing with new gadgets and software. The problem is that there was no calculation for whether or not I could make them *work.* {g}

I do like cool toys :-) I don't actually buy a lot of them, but luckily I can to play with some of them at work.
