How to Think Like John Henry
If I slip on the kitchen floor, then if I go REALLY, REALLY fast it will lessen my chances of slipping because I will be off the floor that much faster.
And THEN if I slip when I'm going REALLY REALLY fast, I will go even FASTER until I spend 0 seconds on the kitchen floor and there is no chance whatsoever that I will slip.
Ever.
Totally.
Dude.

See now, my dog mostly stays off the kitchen floor because he's terrified of losing his grip. He does come in to stare at our feet while we cook, but then he's took neurotic to turn around, so he backs out. It's embarrassing.
Twice I've happened across your blog, so I thought I'd say hi to a fellow Asimov's contributor. I wish I could actually find the magazine locally, because I'd like to read your latest story. Ever read "Wickedness" by Ron Hansen? (It's in his collection *Nebraska*.) Right up your alley, I think.
Love the dog pix.
Best wishes.

Hi, Bill.
John Henry also does the backing out of the kitchen thing anytime he doesn't have to go straight through. Since he can't get to his food dish or outside without passing through the kitchen, staying out isn't a good option for him, tho. Instead I stand in the kitchen and say, 'Remember how we're not going to RUN through the kitchen anymore?' Yeah, dogs, they never listen....
Thanks for stopping by. I can't actually find the magazine locally either (even in Des Moines which is embarrassing). And I'll definitely look up 'Wickedness' sounds intriguing.
